چکیده

The ultimate goal for an esthetic rehabilitation is the restoration of health, beauty, and function to the patient. This article illustrates a predictable system to guide the clinician with tooth preparations for porcelain veneer restorations based upon the additive diagnostic wax-up. This system promotes a preparation technique using a series of guides that direct the clinician to reduce only the enamel necessary to create enough volume for the ceramist to produce a conservative porcelain veneer restoration. Research has shown that porcelain veneer preparations remove significantly less volume of tooth structure by weight than full-crown preparations.

The case for moderate "guided prep" indirect porcelain veneers in the anterior dentition. The pendulum of porcelain veneer preparations: from almost no-prep to over-prep to no-prep.

In a historical pendulum of porcelain veneer preparation concepts, an oversimplified version of the so-called "no prep" approaches has resurfaced. A case from the USC student clinics is presented, which could be easily considered by many as a "no prep" veneer case. Moderate tooth preparations guided by natural morphology were used instead with a great benefit on the final outcome. While it is w...

Comparison of porcelain veneers and crowns for resolving esthetic problems: two case reports.

When dentists are considering restoration of maxillary anterior teeth to improve esthetics, they must often choose between porcelain veneers and full-coverage crowns. Porcelain veneers are considered much more conservative in terms of the requirements for preparation, and they provide satisfactory, long-lasting esthetic results. Typically only the facial surface is involved in veneer preparatio...
